A Jefferson woman was arrested Friday night for allegedly killing a man.

According to the Greene County Sheriff’s Office, at 7:28pm deputies responded to a call about shots being fired at 2264 M Avenue. Law enforcement found 54-year-old Richard Thompson deceased in the home. During the investigation, 49-year-old Christine Thompson was then arrested and charged with first degree murder. 

No other information is known at this time as the case remains under investigation, but officials say there is no threat to the public. The Greene County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Iowa State Patrol, the Jefferson Police Department, the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation and Greene County Ambulance.
