Residents in Central Iowa can expect a small bit of relief from the heat of the previous weeks.
National Weather Service Meteorologist Jim Lee says that upcoming temperatures will be lower than they have in the last two weeks. He tells Raccoon Valley Radio what the difference comes from.
“Well, we’ve just seen a large-scale pattern change. Last week we had a big area of high pressure across a lot of the southern, central, and eastern U.S. that was spreading heat up in here. I wouldn’t necessarily say it’s going to get cooler, but less hot than what we recently experienced overall. It will still be warm at times.”
Lee mentions that today will be the hottest, but that next week temperatures will drop into the 80-90 degree range. He adds that this may make for some ideal weather to get work done outside or to enjoy recreational activities, it will still be important to take adequate breaks and drink plenty of water.
