A Grand Junction man is facing several charges following an alleged incident involving a high speed chase Monday evening.

Greene County Sheriff Jack Williams says they received information about alleged threats made towards law enforcement and threats of violence against individuals living in Harcourt on social media. He tells Raccoon Valley Radio, they were able to identify the suspect as 25-year-old Casey Kennedy of Grand Junction and his vehicle was found at the intersection of 222nd and 220th Streets around 7:30pm.

Williams states that when law enforcement attempted to pull Kennedy’s vehicle over, Kennedy sped up and a chase ensued, with speeds ranging from 80-110 miles per hour. During the chase, Williams notes that Kennedy was intentionally driving his vehicle into other motorists, who were able to avoid being struck and went into the ditch. He says the chase ended 15 minutes later after a controlled impact was made by a deputy patrol vehicle that resulted in the suspect’s vehicle going into the ditch at 300th Street and U Avenue. Williams details that Kennedy then fled on foot into a cornfield for about 75 yards before being apprehended. The 2007 Ford Mustang was totaled and about $8,000 of damage was done to the patrol vehicle.

Kennedy was taken to the Greene County Jail and is charged with three Class D Felonies for eluding, assault on persons in certain occupations, threat of terrorism, four aggravated misdemeanors for assault with a dangerous weapon, a serious misdemeanor for his first offense for possession of marijuana and he was also cited for reckless driving, driving in improper lane/wrong direction, and speeding.
