The Adel-DeSoto-Minburn Baseball Team hosted a double header on Saturday against Gilbert, getting their eighth victory in the second game 8-4, after dropping the first 2-0.

Gilbert came into Adel and only needed six hits in the first game to score their two runs, with one in the top of the first inning and the second came in the fifth. ADM sophomore Jack Siefken pitched all 7 innings, walked a batter, and captured 5 strikeouts. 

In the second game, ADM showcased their offensive ability by getting 8 runs across, 2 were scored in the second inning, then 1 in each of the fourth and fifth innings, then 4 in the bottom of the sixth. Gilbert scored 1 run each in the second, third, fifth, and seventh innings.

Leading the way for ADM was senior Grant Jansen, who scored 2 runs on 3 hits. The other players that tallied runs included Jaxson Book, Leyton Gerleman, Cael Stanford, Ben Plaisance, Auggie Young, and Landen Grossman. The winning pitcher was Book, who went 3 innings, allowed 2 hits, 2 runs, and got 6 strikeouts. The losing pitcher was Gilbert senior Josh Grouwinkel, who went 6 innings, allowing 13 hits, 8 runs, walked 2 batters, and struck out 6. 

Gilbert is now 11-11 on the season (7-4 inside the Raccoon River Conference) as they’re hosting Boone and Newton today. ADM is now 8-18 overall (3-13 RRC) and will travel to Ogden tomorrow for a non-conference matchup versus the Bulldogs at 7pm.
