Greene County played Heart of Iowa Activities Conference baseball in Jewell on Monday night vs. South Hamilton with Coach Kyle Stalder’s team getting its fourth straight win a final of 11-1 in five innings by the 10-run rule. The game was the second of the day for the Hawks, who had an afternoon make up game with West Marshall (State Center) in Jewell because the Trojans and Saydel are in a close race for the conference title.

The Rams are 6-11 overall and out of last place in the conference at 4-10, winning of five of the last six after starting 1-10. Senior Noah Hinote was the winning pitcher in the five innings contest, going the first four. He allowed 1 unearned run on two hits, two walks, three batters hit by pitches, and five strikeouts. Sophomore Zack Stalder finished it out with one inning of shut out baseball. He allowed one hit, walked no one, hit no one with a pitch, and had no strikeouts.

The Rams collected eight hits with a double and single and three runs batted in from Hinote. Sophomore Jaron Jacobs had two base hits and one RBI, while senior Gavyn Winters collected two singles and two runs batted in. Junior Nathan Towers singled and had one RBI, and senior Camden Jacobs added a single.

The Rams step outside the HOIAC tonight vs. Southeast Valley in Dayton. Wednesday the West Marshall Trojans (State Center) play the Rams in a make up game in Jefferson at Allensworth Field before Greene County plays another makeup game in Prairie City on Thursday vs. PCM.
