
The AC/GC Chargers hosted the Madrid Tigers last night, with Chargers baseball winning 8-4, while the softball team fell 8-2.
In the softball game, both teams were scoreless in the first two innings, with the Tigers picking up four runs in the third inning, while the Chargers remained scoreless. Madrid secured three more in the fourth inning, with AC/GC putting up two runs. The Tigers got one more run in the fifth inning, giving the final score of 8-2. For their two runs in the fourth, Jayla Hoover started off the inning with a double base hit, and stole third base. Caydence Boals hit a ground ball to third base, for an RBI single, and was able to make her way around the bases, and steal home for the second run.
The teams will host again tonight, with the Van Meter Bulldogs coming to town for varsity doubleheaders. The Raccoon Valley Radio Sports Network will broadcast the second game of the doubleheader between the baseball teams, with first pitch scheduled for 7pm.
