The next candidate vying for the 2025 Greene County Fair Queen crown is from Grand Junction.

Addison Gannon is entering her senior year of high school with the Greene County School District and competes in high school volleyball, track, as well as cheerleading, is a member of the National Honor Society and the Fellowship of Christian Athletes. She is with the Washington Winners 4-H Club where she is currently serving as the vice president and is in her eighth year of 4-H. Gannon explains that 4-H runs in her family.

“Oh goodness, it was definitely just being around the atmosphere at such a young age. I have an older sister and she was always in 4-H and so I was looking up to her. And she started with lead steers and so I was like, ‘Oh I wanted to do the same thing.’ And so that’s what really what sparked my interest and then my grandparents with their hogs as well. I think that showing hogs is also important to me. So yeah, just having an older sibling to look up to really inspired me.”

Gannon was at last year’s Greene County Fair where one of the highlights was when she won grand champion for the beef pen of three interview. This year at the county fair, Gannon is showing hogs and beef pen of three again. She was also a contestant in last year’s County Fair Queen Contest and talks about why she is trying again to be the county fair queen.

“I might as well try again, if I can, I’m not aged out and so I thought, ‘Well, since I didn’t win last year, I’ll try again,’ because this is a leadership role. And I love to put myself into these because you don’t get a ton of availability to do this kind of stuff. And I feel like this will set me a part from other people in a sense, where people can trust me and also put me in leadership roles in all my other things because of this (opportunity).”

The other contestants for the Fair Queen Contest include Ella Tasler, Tatum Tucker, Savannah Lansman and Kaliyah Minnihan. The Fair Queen Contest takes place Wednesday, July 9th at 7pm in Clover Hall on the Greene County Fairgrounds.
