The community of Minburn is going to be a hotspot later this week, as the small town looks to honor America’s independence in a big way.
According to Minburn Community Betterment Group member Megan Cline, Thursday will serve as the July concert in the “Meet Me in Minburn” series, where people of all ages are welcome to enjoy a free will donation meal, skate and listen to music from Nebraska-based band “One 2 Go.” Cline shares that Friday will feature events from 7:30am all the way to fireworks at the end of the night. She reveals that there will be Children’s Patriotic Bicycle Judging in front of the Minburn Post Office from 8:30-8:45am for youth ages 5-13 years old that can decorate their bikes in order to win prizes.
Cline highlights that the 4th of July Parade will begin at 9am that will start at Meek Park, head north on Baker Street, make a left on Walnut Street, then a left on 7th Street, before making a final left on County Highway F31 towards the park. She details that an All Wheel Show will take place on Baker Street from 10am to 1pm, followed by an appearance by Miss Chili Pepper, the Tiny, Mighty Trick Horse Show at the park. Cline is anticipating a variety of people coming out to all the festivities.
“I think I enjoy seeing families come from all over and have that fellowship. The parade always has amazing entries, something creative is out there every year. The theme this year is “Smile, You’re In Minburn,” and I just want to see those smiles from everybody, and I think that’s what inspired the theme this year is when people come to Minburn on the 4th (of July), they’re smiling.”
Cline adds that Meek Park will have open skate from 3-7pm, with musical entertainment by Minburn natives Ruby Case at 5pm and Laura Helm at 6pm, with a dinner at 5pm sponsored by the Friends of the Minburn Public Library, a pie auction at 7pm, and then close the night will fireworks at dusk at the city lagoon, which is located north of Elmwood Cemetery west from Minburn.
