
On Monday, the Dallas Center-Grimes Mustangs played host to the #2 ranked Norwalk Warriors and the Pella Dutch in softball action. The Mustangs would split the decision, falling to Warriors in a tough battle 3-2 before prevailing over the Dutch 8-0.
Tessa Jones would get the starting nod for the Mustangs in the loss to Norwalk and would put up a tremendous fight, allowing only five hits and three runs through seven innings with 11 strikeouts. Addie Abens would have the lone RBI for the Mustangs in the bottom of the fifth as DCG would score two but would just fall short to the Warriors 3-2.
DCG would bounce back against the Dutch as Kale Montag would achieve the shut out pitching for five innings allowing only three hits, a walk and three strikeouts. Montag would end the night with two RBIs on offense as well alongside Delaney Fetters who went 2-3 with two RBIs. Abens, Addison Lyddon, Jones, and Jaycee Jamison would all have RBIs against the Dutch pushing the Mustangs ahead 8-0.
Mustang softball returns to action on Tuesday as the Dallas Center-Grimes Mustangs play host to the Southeast Polk Rams. First pitch is scheduled for 7:30pm with coverage beginning on KDLS2 at 7:15pm.
