The Adel-DeSoto-Minburn Softball Team continues to find ways to win, as they swept the three scheduled Raccoon River Conference games on Monday versus Carlisle 8-2, and then a double header against Gilbert 6-5 and 11-2 in 5 innings at home to extend their winning streak to 16 consecutive games, while they recognized seniors Aniston Tollari, Madi James, and Kennedy Stanford.

With the amount of rain that’s hit the state of Iowa recently, it shifted ADM’s schedule, forcing them to play Carlisle first at noon, then Gilbert at 5:30pm and 7pm. Raccoon Valley Radio broadcasted the game versus the Wildcats, as they jumped the Tigers scoring two runs in the top of the 1st inning to take an early 2-0 lead. ADM would respond in the bottom half of the inning, when junior Lauren Hagedorn scored on a wild pitch to cut the deficit 2-1.

The score remained until the bottom of the 3rd inning, when Tollari led off with a triple, which prompted five runs to score for the Tigers to grab a commanding 6-2 advantage. ADM would go on to tally two more runs in the 6th to secure an 8-2 win.

Hagedorn was in front of the charge for the Tigers, going 2-3 with 2 runs scored, then it was 1 run each for Tollari, James, Ellis Smith, Elliotte Von Roden, Peyton Herrick, and Lauryn Troster. Carlisle’s runs were scored by freshman Chloe Roling and junior Alyvia Freeman.

The winning pitcher was sophomore Makenna Pitlick, who went 3 innings, allowed 3 hits, 2 runs, and got 1 strikeout. Hagedorn completed 4 innings, allowing 1 hit, and struck out 5 batters. The losing pitcher was senior Logan Brown, who went 1.1 innings, allowed 2 hits and 3 runs.

Following the game, Raccoon Valley Radio caught up with James, who is thankful to have been apart of this Tiger team over her high school career.

“This program just means so much to me. Starting my 8th grade year and all the way through, it’s been such an amazing experience, and I’ve gotten to play with so many different girls and make so many connections that I’ll have for forever, which is awesome, as well as just the success. Lindsay (Stanford) has brought so much success to this team and she works so hard at what she does to get us to the point we need to at the end of the season, where it really matters, and it’s just been an amazing, surreal experience, and I can’t thank God enough for that.”

Later that evening, it was senior night as Gilbert visited for a double header, as ADM squeaked by with a 6-5 win in game number one, with Tollari hitting her first home run of the season to break a 5-5 tie in the bottom of the 6th inning. In that first game, ADM held a 3-1 lead before they fell behind 5-3, but were able to chip away to keep their win streak alive.

In the second game, Gilbert captured the first run in the top of the 1st inning, but then it was all ADM after that, marking 6 runs in the 3rd inning, 3 in the 4th, and another 2 in the fifth to come out victorious 11-2 in 5 innings.

Carlisle is now 23-8 overall (8-4 RRC), Gilbert is 14-12 (3-9 RRC) and ADM has won 16 straight games, improving to 22-5 (11-3 RRC). The Tigers return to action today for a non-conference matchup in Atlantic, beginning at 7:30pm.
