An Adel man succumbed to his injuries following a single vehicle crash on Tuesday evening.

According to Dallas County Chief Deputy Bret Maxwell, dispatch responded to a report of a crash in the area of Old Highway 6 and L Avenue Tuesday night around 8:30pm. He shares that when law enforcement arrived on scene, they discovered a single motorcycle was involved in the accident. Maxwell confirms that 53-year-old Douglas Randolph, from Adel, was identified as the driver and was found unconscious. He says CPR was performed, but Randolph was pronounced dead at the scene.

Maxwell notes that upon further investigation, the motorcycle appeared to lose control going around the curve at Old Highway 6 and L Avenue, which caused it to enter the south ditch and come to rest in a nearby field, as it was found that Randolph was traveling at a high rate of speed. Maxwell details assisting the Dallas County Sheriff’s Office were the Adel Police Department, the DeSoto Police Department, the Adel Fire Department, and the Dallas County Emergency Medical Services Department.
