
The AC/GC Chargers softball and baseball teams both fell in their doubleheader games to the Van Meter Bulldogs.
The softball team’s games both ended in four innings, with the Chargers falling 20-1 in the first game, and 10-0 in the second. The Chargers baseball team fell in their first game 13-1, and 12-2 in the second. In the first baseball game, Ben Franzeen made a spectacular double play at first base, catching a line drive hit right at him, then stepping on the bag to get out the runner that was there. In game two, the Chargers put up a run in the first inning, with the Bulldogs securing two runs. AC/GC was held scoreless in the second, third and fourth innings while picking up a run in the fifth, while Van Meter tallied 10 runs in the second, and were held scoreless the third and fourth innings.
Senior Jackson Pfrang went 3-3 at the plate, hitting a single base hit to left field in the second inning, a single base ground ball to short stop in the third, and a ground ball to third base for a single base hit in the fifth, getting an RBI in the process. The Chargers drew five walks, and three hit by pitches in the fifth inning.
