The Dallas County Fair is under a week away, as there are four young women competing to be named the 2025 fair queen.
This year’s candidates include Adel-DeSoto-Minburn 2025 graduate Kelsey Greenslade, Dallas Center-Grimes 2025 graduate Kadence Brown, DCG sophomore Mya Southwick, and Iowa State University freshman Jenna Schlieman. Current Fair Queen Courtney Wojtowicz provides encouragement to the candidates this year, as she knows what it’s like to be in their shoes.
“Soak in every second. It can be very nerve wracking, but these skills aren’t just for the queen contest, they’re for you to take with you into the professional world. All of these interview skills will help you down the road with jobs. And just don’t take for granted any second because this is a privilege we get to do, and I’m very thankful for it.”
Wojtowicz tells Raccoon Valley Radio that her favorite activity she was involved in over the past year was competing for the Iowa State Fair Queen against representatives from the state’s 99 counties. The Dallas County Fair runs from July 8th through the 12th, with the queen coronation taking place on Friday, July 11th at 3:30pm on the center stage at the fairgrounds in Adel.
