The next candidate for the Greene County Fair Queen Contest has a long family history in the agriculture industry.

Sixteen-year-old Tatum Tucker is going to be a sophomore this fall at Greene County HIgh School, where she is also a cheerleader and is involved in 4-H and FFA. She has been a part of FFA since 7th grade and with 4-H since 4th grade. Tucker currently serves as the president of the Hardin Happy Hustlers 4-H Club. She tells Raccoon Valley Radio the decision was simple for her to join 4-H.

“So I started in 4-H because I was raised into like an ag environment and my siblings grew up in 4-H. When I was old enough to be in 4-H, I knew that it was something that I was already like involved in and raised in. So I thought it would be a great opportunity for me.”

Last year at the Greene County Fair, Tucker points out that she had lots of success as she was the grand champion and reserve grand champion breeding doe, named best in show; and then she competed at the Iowa State Fair and was first in her class for breeding doe. This year, Tucker is showing goats once again.

Tucker explains why she is wanting to be this year’s Greene County Fair Queen.

“I’m running for Greene County Fair Queen because I want to be more involved with our community. And I think the Fair Queen is a great way to help out the community and be more involved.”

The other contestants for the Fair Queen Contest include Ella Tasler, Savannah Lansman, Addison Gannon and Kaliyah Minnihan. The Fair Queen Contest takes place Wednesday, July 9th at 7pm in Clover Hall on the Greene County Fairgrounds.
