With the 4th of July holiday on Friday, the Perry Fine Arts is planning a special show to honor America’s independence.

According to Chairperson Cathy Clark, the organization is presenting the 50th Annual Musical Extravaganza, featuring over a dozen performances by Perry artists and an ice cream social. She mentions the performers will be singing, playing instruments, and even be doing readings about American history. Clark reveals that having local musical artists from Perry is a great way to highlight the community.

“Some years we have just had one performer do the whole concert, but with the local talent, you get more people involved, and promote Perry and Perry’s talent.”

Clark adds that the Perry Bible Praise Band will be showcasing their talent for the first time, along with Steve and Shawn Parnell, as well as Iris Coffin playing handbells. She notes that the concert on Friday will be a free will donation, wheelchair accessible, and air conditioned, as it will be happening at the First United Methodist Church, 1100 3rd Street, in Perry at 2pm.
