
Non-conference high school baseball in Dayton on Tuesday night saw the Greene County Rams visit the Southeast Valley Jaguars with the home team winning by a final of 6-4. The Rams lost for the first time in their last five games and are now 6-12 overall. SEV climbed to within one game of the .500 mark at 9-10
The Jaguars struck the Rams out 10 times while striking out just five times themselves. The Rams had eight hits to three for SEV. Leading Greene County at the plate with a pair of singles and three runs batted in was senior Camden Jacobs. Adding a single and double was senior Lane Fields with base hits from seniors Crew Conner and Noah Hinote, along with junior Nathan Towers, and sophomore Jaron Jacobs. Towers knocked in a run.
All six SEV runs were unearned as the Rams were charged with three errors and SEV was charged with two. Junior Teagan Chisholm pitched the first three innings and he took the loss. Camden Jacobs three three innings of relief. The Jaguars led throughout with four runs in the second inning and two in the sixth. The Rams had a two run third frame and added two in the seventh.
The Rams are home tonight in Jefferson at Allensworth Field vs. West Marshall (State Center) in Heart of Iowa Activities Conference makeup baseball. Greene County has a makeup game tomorrow night in Prairie City vs. PCM to round out the week.
