With the Guthrie County Fair a few months away, applications are now being accepted for the fair queen contest.

Guthrie County Fair Queen Coordinator Rylee Jacobe says young women aged 16-21, that live in Guthrie County or do a majority of their activities within the county can fill out applications for the 2026 Guthrie County Fair Queen Contest. She tells Raccoon Valley Radio that the application and contest includes a focus in the areas of beauty, personality, leadership, communication skills and community service, and applicants are encouraged to be involved with a school or community organization. Jacobe, who has been a Guthrie County Fair Queen, shares which areas are extra important to pay attention to.

“Yeah, so I would really focus on what leadership positions you have done, how you’ve been involved in the community, you really want to focus on that community service, because that kind of ties into your leadership. I would say those are probably your top two is to really focus on your leadership and community service.”

Jacobe mentions that interviews will take place August 2nd, and the top candidates will be chosen, with those individuals to attend the Guthrie County Fair, and the 2026 Fair Queen to be crowned on August 31st during the Fair.
