With the July 4th holiday tomorrow, the community of Minburn has a full day of activities planned.
Minburn Community Betterment Group member Megan Cline explains the day will begin at 7:30am with rolls and coffee being served at the food stand on Baker Street. At 8:30am, Cline highlights there will be a children’s patriotic bicycle judging contest in front of the post office, with a $100 cash prize for first place in the boys and girls categories followed by the parade, at 9am at Meek Park.
Cline describes that there will be games in Rogers Park at 10am, an All-Wheel Show from 10am-1pm on Baker Street, a bags tournament at Mudder’s Bar at 11am, lunch served from 11am-1pm by the American Legion Auxiliary at the food stand, and a special guest making an appearance at 2pm.
“Miss Chili Pepper is coming back! The Tiny Mighty Trick Horse Show, and if you have not seen her in the past, she was here a couple of years ago. She’s quite the trick pony to come see, and I can’t wait to see what she brings this year. She is adorable and she knows she’s the star of the show.”
Cline mentions that also in the afternoon in Meek Park is open skate from 3-7pm, with a 5pm dinner sponsored by the Friends of the Minburn Library at the food stand, then musicians Ruby Case and Laura Helm will take the stage at Meek Park with performances at 5pm and 6pm. Cline concludes that a pie auction will happen at 7pm, and finally the fireworks will be set off at the city lagoon, located north of Elmwood Cemetery west of Minburn, beginning at dusk. Cline states that all events will be available for free.
