The Iowa Department of Natural Resources is looking for feedback on the revision of their administrative rule regarding threatened and endangered species in Iowa.

According to the DNR Executive Order 10, which was signed by Governor Kim Reynolds in 2023, all state agencies are required to identify administrative rule chapters to retain or rescind yearly. The DNR revised the code regarding endangered and threatened plant and animal species so that only those plant and animal species that were identified as endangered or threatened, and eliminates the classification of “special concern” species, with no change in policy or enforcement of the new rule.

Members of the public wanting to provide feedback or comments can do so by sending in written comments or questions to John Pearson and Kelly Poole, with the deadline being July 15th.
