The Adel-DeSoto-Minburn Softball Team competed in two games against Ankeny and Johnston at the Dallas Center-Grimes Invitational on Thursday, beating the Hawks 3-0 and losing to the Dragons 2-1, as junior Lauren Hagedorn reached a significant milestone.
In the first game versus Ankeny, ADM used their three pitchers of sophomore Makenna Pitlick, freshman Chloe Olthoff, and Hagedorn, who combined giving up 4 hits, walked 5 batters, and captured 5 strikeouts in 6 innings. Hagedorn also achieved 500 strikeouts in her career. The Tigers scored 1 run each in the first 3 innings, as Hagedorn led the way with 2 runs scored, and freshman Aubrey Noring tallied the other run.
The second game against Johnston, the Dragons broke the scoring in the top of the 4th inning to lead 1-0. Johnston would grab another run in the 7th to provide enough separation at 2-0, as ADM freshman Elliotte Von Roden marked a run for the Tigers, but no more would come across, ultimately falling 2-1.
ADM is now 24-7 on the year and will be off until Monday, when they host Carroll at ADM High School in Adel at 7pm.
