
The final Heart of Iowa Activities Conference baseball game for the Greene County Rams was last night vs. PCM in Prairie City. The Rams lost by a 10-0 score in five innings by the 10 run rule and Coach Kyle Stalder’s team has six wins and 14 losses with just one regular season game remaining. They finished 4-12 in the HOIAC while PCM is 8-13 overall and 7-8 in league play.
The Rams were out hit 10-2 with two singles from seniors Noah Hinote and Isaac Carman. Senior Crew Conner took the pitching loss and Hinote pitched in relief. In 2-1/3 innings, Conner allowed six runs, four of which were earned, on seven hits and a walk. Hinote went two innings and PCM scored four runs, three earned, off him. Hinote allowed three hits and four walks, and he recorded the only strikeout the Ram pitchers had. PCM did not score in the first inning, then scored two runs in the second, four in the third, and two each in the fourth and fifth.
The last regular season game is Monday at Allensworth Field in Jefferson vs. Atlantic with JV at 5:15 p.m. and varsity at 7:30 p.m. The Rams open Class 3A Substate 1 baseball on July 11 vs. Bishop Heelan at Sioux City’s Lewis & Clark Stadium, home of the independent professional Sioux City Explorers.
