It’s the 4th of July, and one of the more noted celebrations is taking place.

The annual Yale 4th of July celebration is going on today, with several activities and much fun to be had. There is a slow pitch softball tournament going on at the ball field, with a pickleball tournament beginning at 8:30am at the city park. Parade registration is from 9am to 10:30am at the school campus, with the parade at 11am. The Yale Saddle Club Horse Show is at noon at the horse arena, with a bags tournament at 2pm at the Christian Church. Ironside Axe Throwing will be open from 1-4pm, with a horseshoes tournament open from 2-5pm at the city park horseshoe pits.

For food,the Yale Jamaica Bagley Time, Talent and Treasure club is serving their omelet breakfast from 8am to 10am, and Deardorff Highland Cattle serving pulled pork, burgers, highland phillies and assorted sides beginning at 11am. Mickey’s also open at 11am with a special Independence Day menu. There are several vendors open along Main Street, open from 9:30am to 2pm along Main Street. Free family fun is taking place at the Yale Community Building, with face painting, a balloon artist and a free movie from noon to 3pm, a kids pedal pull at 2pm and a free craft time and cookie decorating from 2-3pm.

On Main Street, the Panorama Junior Class will be conducting a few fundraisers, including a dunk tank from noon to 4pm, and bathtub races beginning at 1pm. There will also be a Five One Foam Party at 3pm. To finish off the night, the fireworks show will take place at dusk at the ball field.
