Adel-DeSoto-Minburn senior Kennedy Stanford reflects on growing in her career through softball and playing under her mother, who happens to be the head coach.

From June 11th through July 1st, the Tigers went on a 17-game winning streak, putting them in prime position to grab a number one seed for regionals. Stanford explains that Head Coach Lindsay Stanford stressed to the girls that it was important to go about each game just one at a time. Kennedy says the message that her mom has been pushing on the team is to remember that at the end of the day, softball is just a game and not to wrap your whole life around a win or loss.

Kennedy does however mention that her mom Lindsay encourages the girls to support each other by cheering for the successes or keeping teammates heads up when they might be struggling. Along with Kennedy, Aniston Tollari and Madi James are the other seniors on the team, as Kennedy has spent a lot of time with them through sports of track and softball, but the growth she’s seen is special.

“Sitting back and being able to reflect over the years past and how far our program has come and let alone individually as an athlete. I see these two (Madi and Aniston) grow too, but even going farther back than that, I can remember playing AAU Softball with these two and still having my mom as a coach, so it’s just been great to see everyone grow.”

ADM is currently 24-7 (11-4 inside the Raccoon River Conference) and prepares to host Carroll on Monday in Adel for a single game at 7pm.
