On Thursday, the Dallas Center-Grimes Mustangs softball team hosted 11 other teams for the DCG Softball Tournament. The Mustangs would play in two games, defeating the Dowling Catholic Maroons 5-1, before just falling short to the Roosevelt Rough Riders 1-0.

Kale Montag would pitch the complete game in the victory against Dowling Catholic pitching for seven innings allowing nine hits, one run, one walk and one strikeout. Delaney Fetters and Genevieve York would lead the Mustangs in hits with two, while Addie Abens would lead the team in RBIs with three to help push DCG ahead of the Maroons 5-1.

Tessa Jones would pitch the complete game in the loss to the Rough Riders pitching for six innings, allowing one hit, one run, one error and one strikeout. The Mustangs would only have four hits in the shut out loss to Roosevelt, with Addison Lyddon leading DCG with two hits against the Roughriders in the 1-0 loss.

The Mustang softball team returns to action on Monday for senior night at home against the Iowa City West Trojans. First pitch is scheduled for 7:30pm.
