Rain played a major role in the Heart of Iowa Activities Conference softball schedule as only two of the league’s nine teams completed the 16 game conference schedule. Coach Tom Kennedy’s Greene County Rams and Grand View Christian (Des Moines) played all 16, but some of the other seven HOIAC squads played as few as 13, while others got 14 or 15 conference games in.
The Rams went 10-6 in the league and are 15-10 overall just one year after going 4-20 on the season and 3-11 in the conference, which had eight teams in it in 2024 instead of the current nine squads. Class 3A number 4 ranked PCM (Monroe) won the HOIAC title at 15-0. Grand View Christian was 12-4 with West Marshall (State Center) 11-4, followed by Greene County.
A Tuesday night game at 4A number 13 Creston tomorrow night is all that’s left on Greene County’s regular season schedule. The Rams open Class 3A Region 4 softball on Thursday night at 7 in Jefferson vs. Des Moines Christian, and that game will be broadcast on KG98 and streamed on www.raccoonvalleyradio.com.
