The Adair County Fair starts tomorrow.
Adair County Iowa State University Extension and Outreach Coordinator Caroline Savage says that the 2025 Adair County Fair begins tomorrow, with most of the activity being getting everyone checked in. She tells Raccoon Valley Radio how they get ready for things to get busy.
“A lot of new shows this year. We are working hard in the office here to get all of the prep done and make sure that everything runs as smoothly as possible. We have some great summer staff this year and without the office staff it wouldn’t be possible. And a lot of help from our volunteers. We have a lot of volunteers in the community that make this fair a success that it is.”
Savage mentions that all livestock except poultry can begin arriving at 6am tomorrow, with rabbits to be inspected from 7-8am, and swine to be weighed from 7-8:30am. Lead market beef followed by junior feeder pen cattle will be weighed from 8:30-10am, with bucket bottle calves weighed from 10-10:30am, meat goats weighed from 10:30-11am and sheep weighed from 11am to noon.
The quilt show will be held from noon to 3pm, with bucket/bottle calf and bottle lamb/goat record books due at the 4-H/FFA Center at 1pm, along with the start of the dog show at the MidAmerican Arena, followed by the dog parent showmanship. Swine performance will be entered from 1-1:45pm, with lamb/goat performance to be entered afterwards from 1:45-2:30pm.
