A Bouton man was taken into custody following an alleged physical threat incident on Monday.

According to court documents, the Dallas County Sheriff’s Office investigated the alleged incident where the victim said that on Saturday, 42-year-old Jeffrey Hughes was making several slicing motions with a knife near the victim’s neck, without reason, in a home on Quinlan Avenue in Bouton. The victim stated that Hughes left before law enforcement was notified on Monday.

Court documents show that the Sheriff’s Office found that Hughes had three prior convictions for domestic violence in Michigan. Hughes was then arrested on Monday and charged with two Class D Felonies for domestic abuse assault 3rd or subsequent offense, along with simple misdemeanors for 5th degree criminal mischief, driving while license is denied, suspended, canceled or revoked, and fraudulent use of registration. Hughes is currently being held in the Dallas County Jail on a $10,000 cash or surety bond and a no contact order has been issued for the victim.
