Both AC/GC Chargers summer ball teams were in action last night.

The Chargers softball team travelled to Martensdale to take on the Martensdale-St Marys Blue Devils, and ended their season with a 10-0 loss. Caydence Boals got a hit for the team, and Kailee Kautzky laid out two sacrifice bunts, and threw out a runner that was stealing 3rd base. AC/GC ends the year with a 2-21 record.

The Chargers baseball team got themselves into the double digits in the win column in style. AC/GC played the AHSTW Vikings, winning the game 3-2. The Chargers were held scoreless through the fourth inning, with the Vikings picking up a run in the first and third innings. AC/GC then held AHSTW scoreless the rest of the game, while picking up two runs in the fifth inning, and getting the walk-off win in the seventh.

The run in the seventh came off a series of set ups for the Chargers, with senior Jackson Pfrang being hit by the pitch, and fellow senior Payton Policky smacking a great ground ball to the shortstop. Junior Tommy Skram was intentionally walked, and the bases were loaded. Skram’s younger brother, 8th grader Will Skram was next at the plate, and hit a fly ball into right field for the single base hit, bringing Pfrang home for the win. Chargers baseball is back in action tonight as they take on the Woodbine Tigers.
