There are a couple of new structures coming to Adel relating to the Dallas County Sheriff’s Office, which Sheriff Adam Infante believes brings several benefits.

Infante tells Raccoon Valley Radio the current evidence storage building that they have has been more and more utilized by other county facilities, due to not having enough space for storage. He says the challenge with that is when the Sheriff’s Office has big cases, they’re unable to properly keep items.

Infante notes that when he brought these concerns to the Dallas County Board of Supervisors, they agreed to build a new facility next to the current one that would specifically be for the Sheriff’s Office. He describes that the building will include a car wash, armory assistance, plus an indoor firing range that is attached for training and practicing for the deputies. Infante shares that the Sheriff’s Office currently uses the City of Perry’s firing range, but it isn’t always available. He details why they ultimately decided to choose an indoor range.

“We talked about an outdoor shooting range, but everywhere we considered, we got pretty significant pushback. Nobody wants an outdoor shooting range in their backyard. So, we settled on an indoor range, and I think it will benefit not only us, but the entire region. All of our other law enforcement officers will be able to use this range and train with us.”

According to Turner Construction Project Manager Chad Lane, the target date for completion is set for fall 2026.
