With the Dallas County Fair Queen Contest coming up this week, the second candidate is from the Adel-DeSoto-Minburn School District.
Kelsey Greenslade is a recent 2025 ADM High School Graduate and is running for a second time in the Fair Queen Contest. She tells Raccoon Valley Radio that she’s been showing animals since she was young at the county fair and attended the queen coronation, seeing the candidates as role models.
Greenslade highlights that her favorite memories of the county fair are making friends during show barns, and seeing those relationships continue to blossom today. She points out that she has served as a 4-H Officer for nine years and held six leadership positions for FFA at the local, district, and state level. Greenslade believes those skills are vital in order to display leadership.
“Really those skills that you need to have in your later career I think are so important and I feel like I display those by really getting to know the people around me, getting to hear everyone’s story and figuring out how you can connect with each individual person around you is something that’s super important for leadership.”
Greenslade notes that she has volunteered for the Dallas County Farm Bureau Barn Buddies program, Dallas County Pig Pals, Dallas County Fair Farm Bureau Commodity Court, Iowa State Fair Bacon Buddies Special Needs Show, and the Iowa State Fair Have You Herd program. The other candidates for Dallas County Fair Queen include Mya Southwick, Kadence Brown, and Jenna Schlieman. The coronation will be held on Friday at 3pm on the Center Stage at the fairgrounds in Adel.
