The Greene County School Board approved the hiring of three high school wrestling coaches at Monday night’s meeting, and all three are very familiar with the sport and with the Greene County program.
Zach Beekman will be the head coach with Mark Sawhill and Clint Flack serving as assistant coaches. Beekman will be in his second stint heading the program after being head coach for four seasons (2019-20 through 2022-23). He led the middle school program for the Rams prior to his first time as head high school coach and he’s been the top middle school each of the past two seasons.
Sawhill has more than two decades coaching wrestling with the Rams. A longtime assistant to then head coach Tom Ball, he took over the top spot when “T Ball” stepped down. Flack split his time between the middle school and high school programs and now will be a full-time high school assistant.
Activities Director Dave Wright told Raccoon Valley Radio he now is looking for middle school wrestling coaches.
Although the number of wrestlers in the high school and middle school programs isn’t high, the quality is. The Rams have had three individuals win five State titles since 2021 with two from McKinley Robbins, two by Kale Petersen, and one from 2025 Champion Brent Dennhardt. Three of the six 2025 State Tournament qualifiers return in junior-t0-be Degan Miller, Brennan Jacobs, and Jaron Jacobs. Miller placed fifth in February in Class 2A at 165 lbs. while the Jacobs twins both won State Tournament matches.
