Two great softball teams clashed on Tuesday as the Dallas Center-Grimes Mustangs traveled to Waukee Northwest High School to face off against the Wolves. The Mustangs would pull ahead in the second and never looked back, defeating the Wolves 8-3.

Both teams entered Tuesday’s contest ranked in their classes, as DCG currently sits at #2 in Class 4A while the Wolves are ranked #1 in Class 5A. Tessa Jones would pitch the entire game in this ranked battle, pitching all seven innings, allowing eight hits, three runs, and three strikeouts. Sophia Bauman and Addie Abens would lead the Mustangs in hits and RBIs, as both girls would end the night 3-2 from the batters box. Abens would hit a solo homerun in the top of the first, as Bauman would hit a two run homerun in the top of the seventh, as a homerun would start and end the game for DCG as they defeated the Wolves 8-3.

Now 21-9, the Mustangs travel to Carlisle for their final match of the regular season on Wednesday, facing off against the 26-9 Wildcats. First pitch is scheduled for 7pm.
