In their June meeting, the Panorama School Board held the first reading of a new Board policy.
Superintendent Kasey Huebner says that with the State Legislature passing a new law on electronics in the classroom, the Board put together a policy as required by the law. He tells Raccoon Valley Radio what’s in the policy.
“Essentially, what it is, is elementary and middle school students, they need to keep their personal devices in their bags turned off. High school, obviously it’s banned during instructional time due to state law, but they have the option to keep their cell phones and personal devices in their lockers.”
Huebner mentions that high school students will also have the option to leave their phones in a storage option in the classroom. He adds that students are not allowed to use phones during instructional time, but can use them between classes and at lunch.
