The newest leader of the Adel Partners Chamber of Commerce is adjusting in her new position a little over three months in.

Erin Milroy was elected to serve as the president in the latter half of March, taking over from Deb Bengston, who retired from the position. Milroy shares that Bengston helped her adjust to the position before she officially retired at the end of May, to reconnect with the business owners, associates, and community members in Adel. She explains that just like in any job, there has been a learning curve she’s had to adapt to, especially with giving herself more time to plan for the unexpected. Despite the challenges, Milroy is enjoying how interactive the president’s role can be.

“One of the most fun parts has been connecting with those native to Adel, or in the nearby communities. It has been really wonderful. I think the other thing is that I’ve been really welcomed in by the industry by fellow chamber executives or city administrators, supporters of economic growth and prosperity.”

Milroy mentions that events she’s looking forward to is the Adel Sweet Corn Festival in August, the Chamber Happenings, Opportunities, and Wisdom (CHOW) Luncheons going on in August, October, and December; then the Holiday Hometown Celebration the first weekend in December.
