A Guthrie Center based business is celebrating with a grand opening and ribbon cutting tomorrow.

Dub P Apparel will be opening the doors to their first brick and mortar location, and owner Wes Policky is excited for the day. He tells Raccoon Valley Radio more on his plans for the shop.

“As you walk in the doors, you’ll see to our left, we’ll have about 24 designs, whether it’s AC/GC, Panorama, Guthrie County or Guthrie Center, you know, Adair – Casey. We’ll have about 18 to 20 static ones for about two months and then switch them up. But (the) idea is, walk into the building and pick your garment out, whether it’s a shirt, long sleeve, hoodie, various colors and pick out your design and we’ll put it on for you right then and there. And then the other half of the business is just kind of a retail shop.”

Policky mentions that the business has been run out of his home since he began three years ago. He adds that he became interested in an apparel shop after seeing all the advertisements on Facebook for different clothing items, and thought “I could do that.” Policky shares on the business journey so far.

“It’s been a true blessing and just exciting to kind of be able to do a little bit more creativity and put stuff out there on, you know, shirts and whatnot. And, you know, I’d argue I’m not even really to that part yet where I’m using a whole lot of the things that I thought I was going (to) be doing. Instead, we’ve been able to do a lot of stuff for the surrounding schools, and a lot of businesses around here, and haven’t really even been able to dabble in the, I’ll say, unique or ‘own’ designs. We will have a few of those Friday to show, so that’s kind of cool.”

Policky says that the grand opening celebration is from 8am to 5pm tomorrow, with the ribbon cutting at noon. He adds that Rockett Fuel Barbecue will be serving food starting at 11am, and that Swoop’s and Scoops will have ice cream and sweet treats starting at the same time.
