The softball regular season has been completed and Perry travels to Boone tonight to open up postseason play at 7P on KDLS.  The Jayettes will look to extend their season as they take on the Toreadors for a second time.

Perry had an up and down first year for Head Coach Emma Olejniczak.  The Jayettes went 7-12-1.  That includes a 10-2 loss last Thursday to Boone.  Perry gave Kate Schuttler her first pitching start in the defeat.  Tina Kanealy is scheduled to slide back into the circle for the postseason match up tonight.  Coach Olejniczak is a fan of the playoff draw.

“I think being a former RRC player myself as well as my assistant coach we like some of those are RC draws.  We know that they may not take us too seriously as we have left the RRC now.”

The Toreadors enter 19-13 and earned the three seed in Region 7 in 4A.  Winner of tonight’s will advance to see Storm Lake on Saturday.

Last year, Perry pulled off an upset of Denison-Schleswig and Storm Lake as they advanced to the Regional Final.

The Jayettes are led by Karagyn Whelchel offensively.  The junior is hitting .481 with seven doubles.  Taryn Nehring has driven in 11 runs to lead the club.

Perry will look to end a four game losing streak to Boone tonight at 7P.  KDLS will have the Regional Quarterfinal tonight at 6:45P.
