The 4th ranked in Class 4A Adel-DeSoto-Minburn Softball Team dropped their final regular season game in Pleasant Hill, losing 12-3 in 5 innings versus #6-seeded in Class 5A Southeast Polk on Wednesday.

The Rams warmed up the bats early on by going through eight batters in the bottom of the 1st inning, resulting in 4 runs to lead 4-0 after one. In the second inning, Tiger senior Madi James led off with a double, then later came into score thanks to an RBI single from sophomore Makenna Pitlick to make it 4-1. However, in the bottom half of the inning, Southeast Polk got 5 hits, which brought in another 4 runs to take an 8-1 advantage, then captured one run each in the 3rd and 4th inning to extend it to 10-1. 

In the top of the 5th inning, ADM sophomore Kinzie Maxwell hit a 2-run homer to right to score her and freshman Elliotte Von Roden to get the deficit to 10-3. The bottom of the 5th inning saw the Rams get the final two runs to end the game, as senior Kennedy Borud brought in the junior Kenna Brooker and sophomore Halle Clark to win 12-3 in 5 innings.

Southeast Polk got 10 different players that tallied runs for them. ADM junior Lauren Hagedorn suffered the loss, pitching 4 innings, allowed 10 hits, 10 runs, and captured a strikeout. Pitlick went an inning, allowing 1 hit, 2 runs, walked 2 batters, and struck out one. Getting the win on the mound was Ram sophomore Karter Price, who pitched 5 innings, allowed 6 hits, 3 runs, walked a batter, and acquired 4 strikeouts.

Both teams start regional play on Saturday, as Southeast Polk will host either Des Moines Lincoln or Marshalltown for Class 5A Region 6, while ADM will welcome in either Bishop Heelan or MOC-Floyd Valley Saturday to Adel at 7pm. Raccoon Valley Radio will carry the broadcast on K107.9 KKRF.
