Two men were recently arrested for allegedly stealing about $35,000 worth of items from a home in Greene County.

According to court documents, the Greene County Sheriff’s Office began the investigation on July 8th, after being notified of the incident at a residence in rural Jefferson. Court documents show that the victim said they locked the home on July 6th but then saw one door that appeared like there was forced entry used and another walk-through door to a detached garage was open.

The criminal complaint states that several items were missing, including one of the two vehicles that were on property. Court documents show that the Sheriff’s Office used the help of OnStar to find the reported stolen vehicle, which was found at a residence in Woodward. After requesting assistance from the Dallas County Sheriff’s Office, a search warrant was executed, in which all of the stolen items were recovered, including the vehicle.

The affidavit mentions that when investigators interviewed the two alleged suspects, 37-year-old Cody Roth of Polk City and 48-year-old Daivd Lehman of Des Moines, they admitted that they learned about the homicide investigation at the same rural Jefferson house and thought no one was at the house and so they could burglarize it. Court documents show the two suspects took two trips to allegedly steal approximately $35,000 worth of items.

Roth and Lehman were both arrested and charged with Class C Felonies for first degree theft and Class D Felonies for third degree burglary, and they were booked into the Greene County Jail. Raccoon Valley Radio will bring you more information as it becomes official.
