Postseason challenges are nothing new to the Greene County High School baseball program and that’s the case tonight. Coach Kyle Stalder’s 7-14 Rams face the 29-6 Bishop Heelan Crusaders from Sioux City. The contest begins Class 3A Substate 1 action at 7 p.m. at Lewis & Clark Field, the home of the professional independent league Sioux City Explorers and all the action can be heard on KG98 and streamed on www.raccoonvalleyradio.com.
The Crusaders are ranked number 6 in 3A and are the top seed in Substate 1 while the Rams are the eighth seed. The Rams have been seeded eighth for at least the past three seasons in Substate play, meaning they open the postseason against one of 3A’s top teams. That was top ranked North Polk (Alleman) in 2023 and ’24. The Rams and Bishop Heelan rarely meet in team sports, be it in the regular season or postseason.
Rain is in the forecast for much of Iowa today, so if there’s a change, KG98 and www.raccoonvalleyradio.com will have that information for you.
