The Dallas County Sheriff’s Office is clearing up a scam that’s been going around involving their unit.
According to the sheriff’s office, multiple calls have been made regarding receiving voicemails from an individual claiming to be Lieutenant VanCleeve with the Dallas County Sheriff’s Office. They say that he is supposedly telling people to get in contact with him about them missing a Federal Jury Date and that a warrant is being issued for their arrest.
The sheriff’s office is emphasizing that the call is a scam and reminds residents that they will never call you directly to inform you about a warrant for your arrest or solicit money over the phone. The sheriff’s office notes that if you have questions about the legitimacy of a phone call you receive, to contact their office at (515)-993-4567 to confirm.
