A Perry woman was taken into custody on July 4th following an alleged physical altercation incident.

According to court documents, the Perry Police Department responded to a call on Marengo Drive, where a male told officers that he was attacked by 37-year-old Ashley Nicole Paulsen at a residence in the 700 block of 4th Street around 12:45am. The criminal complaint states that the victim explained that there was a disagreement with the suspect, and when he attempted to leave home, Paulsen allegedly slammed the door on his arm multiple times. Court documents show that the victim had visible injuries on his right forearm as well as a cut on his left bicep.

The report says that officers then made contact with Paulsen to question her, and noticed a smell of alcohol from her, in addition to blood shot and watery eyes, plus an unstable balance. According to court documents, Paulsen admitted to drinking, but refused a field sobriety test and a preliminary breath test. Officers then arrested Paulsen on a Class D Felony Operating While under the Influence, 3rd or subsequent offense; and a serious misdemeanor of domestic abuse assault in the 2nd offense. Paulsen is currently being held in the Dallas County Jail on a $5,000 cash or surety bond. Raccoon Valley Radio will bring you more information as it becomes official.
