For the third time this season the Greene County High School softball team met the PCM Mustangs. This time it was a postseason contest last night in Class 3A Region 4 semifinal in Monroe with the sixth ranked Mustangs winning 9-0 by the run rule in 4-1/2 innings. The Heart of Iowa Activities Conference Champions are 3-0 this season vs. the Rams, who completed the season at 16-12, a massive improvement over the 4-20 record in 2024. PCM advances to the Tuesday night regional final with a 24-4 mark.

Saturday night’s game was broadcast on KG98 and streamed on www.raccoonvalleyradio.com.The Rams had four hits,, all singles, off three different PCM pitches. Rams with hits were senior Payton Kokenge, and sophomores Bellah Johnson, Sara Morlan, and Alivya Smith. The Rams had four errors and losing pitcher Alaina Heard, a sophomore, gave up six hits,  four walks (one intentional), and she hit two batters with pitches while recording four strikeouts.

Rams seniors on the team are Chanlyn Cunningham, Kokenge, and Violet Reedy. A lot of experience is eligible to return on the softball diamond for the Rams in 2026.
