As negotiations between the United States and Iran continue, one federal lawmaker is doing what he can to aid in that effort.
US Congressman Zach Nunn tells Raccoon Valley Radio he has been leading the Iran Maximum Pressure Campaign to help President Donald Trump as he tries to find a way to end the war between Israel and Iran.
“To give the presidency the maximum amount of weaponry in his diplomatic arsenal to hold the Ayatollah accountable going forward. Because, just because they’ve given up their nuclear program doesn’t mean they’ve stopped their terrorist activity or their illicit sale of oil to the tune of $80 billion a year.”
Nunn shares what else he wants to see from the countries in that region.
“I had an expectation when I talked to both the Arab states, as well as Israel, that they need to be at the front line defending their own region. This cannot be a US responsibility.”
Nunn adds that with this kind of commitment, along with the one from the North Atlantic Treaty Organization increasing its defense fund by five percent, will all help put the US into a position to better control the southern border with Mexico, growing the economy and standing up to real threats like the country of China.
