ADM seniors Madi James and Kennedy Stanford

Adel-DeSoto-Minburn Softball senior Madi James discusses how she’s able to not let her nerves overcome her performance.

The Tigers began the Iowa Girls High School Athletic Union Class 4A Region 4 playoffs on Saturday, picking up a 12-1 victory over MOC-Floyd Valley. ADM saw 10 different players score, including all three seniors of Aniston Tollari, Kennedy Stanford, and Madi James. James emphasizes that even though she’s played plenty of softball, it’s hard not to be a bit nervous during her senior season.

“At this point in the season every game could be our last, and so that’s just nervous in itself, but also not knowing the competition, but again, at this point, it’s just playing our game, doing what we can control, trusting our training, and putting it all out there. Our coach, she had a little talk with us the other day, and she just said ‘leave no regrets,’ and ever since then I’m just out there in the field, and when the ball comes to me, it’s just no regrets, because this is it.”

James has made it to the state tournament all her high school years playing softball, as the Tigers will be seeking their fifth consecutive trip if they’re able to advance past Sergeant Bluff-Luton tomorrow. First pitch tomorrow will be at 7pm at the ADM Softball Field in Adel and Raccoon Valley Radio will carry the broadcast on K107.9 KKRF.
