The Adel-DeSoto-Minburn Baseball Team is losing five young men after playing their final season in a Tiger uniform.
ADM was defeated 10-0 by Oskaloosa in the Iowa High School Athletic Association Class 3A Substate 8 First Round game this past Friday, putting a wrap on the high school careers of seniors Owen Evans, Jaxson Book, Reed Ausdemore, Cade Fisher, and Grant Jansen. Head Coach Jason Book calls them an outstanding group of individuals, and explains that he’s been coaching them since little league. He emphasizes that each one of them left everything out on the field, and admits that it’s hard to let them go.
“You want to have them for as long as you can, and keep them and coach them up and love them as long as you can, but there’s also a point where you got to let them go. For all five of these guys, they’re going to move on and do great things, and they’re going to be great leaders, and they’re going to be great husbands, and great fathers, and some of them might even be great coaches as well. And that is the ultimate (goal) when you get to see them as they grow, the people that they become as they mature.”
Jason is the father of Jaxson, but acknowledges that he sees all his players like his children, and is trying to build them as great role models, who enjoy the game of baseball. The Tigers concluded the 2025 season with an overall record of 9-23.
