A rear-end collision between a motorcycle and SUV ended with an air ambulance being used this past Saturday in Guthrie County.

According to the Guthrie County Sheriff’s Office, at 12:09pm 40 year old Sarah Hefel of North Liberty, was traveling northbound on Highway 4, and slowing her 2016 gray Ford Escape to turn east onto 180th Street. The crash report shows that it was at this time that 63 year old Dana Rutherford of Bagley was driving a 2023 Harley Davidson motorcycle when he rear-ended Hefel’s vehicle. The Sheriff’s Office says after the collision Rutherford and his passenger, 70 year old Lynn Rutherford of Bagley, were transported by Mercy One to Methodist Hospital in Des Moines.

The report shows Dana Rutherford could not accurately recall how the crash took place, but there were no signs of impairment or intoxication. Both vehicles were totaled from the incident as the case remains under investigation at this time.Raccoon Valley Radio will bring more information as it becomes available.
