The Adel-DeSoto-Minburn Softball Team is one win away from potentially advancing back to the state tournament if they can find a way past Sergeant Bluff-Luton tonight in the Class 4A Region 4 Final.

The Tigers are welcoming the Warriors into Adel for a trip to the Iowa Girls High School Athletic Union State Tournament in Fort Dodge next week. Sergeant Bluff-Luton beat Le Mars 4-2 in the semifinal round on Saturday, while ADM took care of MOC-Floyd Valley 11-1 in 4 innings. In the game versus the Bulldogs, Warrior senior Addison Wheeler had 2 hits and scored a run, while senior pitcher Brooklyn Ocker went all 7 innings, capturing 4 strikeouts.

When the Tigers matched up against the Dutchmen, senior Kennedy Stanford had 3 hits, scored 1 run, and had an RBI, with sophomore pitcher Makenna Pitlick picking up the win going 3 innings and tallied 2 strikeouts. Stanford shares how the dugout keeps it loose regardless of the score of the game.

“I don’t think there’s ever a dull moment in our dugout, that’s our main mentality is always keeping that energy up because maybe we have that one bad inning where we give up however many runs, it’s how we bounce back, and we need that energy to keep going, and if we just settle down and play their level, then it’s not really going to go anywhere. So just making sure that we keep that energy up, forget all the mistakes in order to keep going.”

This will be the fourth game in the historical series as ADM leads 2-1, grabbing a 14-0 victory in their latest match back in 2018.

Tonight’s game will be played from the ADM Softball Field in Adel, with first pitch at 7pm. Raccoon Valley Radio will carry the broadcast on K107.9 KKRF, starting around 6:45pm.
