Adel-DeSoto-Minburn Baseball Head Coach Jason Book believes that his team was steadily getting better from the plate as the season went on.

Book tells Raccoon Valley Radio that he was impressed with the way the Tigers were able to rack up more runs from the beginning of the year to the end. He says there is a lot of work done in the offseason to create meaningful swings in a game setting, but the challenge is knowing if it will pay off. Book states that the beginning of the season was a struggle from the plate, but that didn’t discourage them, and eventually they began to reap the benefits from their hard work. He elaborates on the mindset shift the boys went through.

“Changing their approach a little bit, changing what they were looking for at the plate, and just seeming a little more focused from time to time on what their job needed to be at the plate, giving that certain situation.”

Book recognizes that ADM couldn’t score a run in their Class 3A Substate First Round loss to Oskaloosa, 10-0, but was proud of how they were able to put runners on the bases, and will continue to work with the boys to develop that area. The Tigers concluded the year at 9-23 overall (3-13 inside the Raccoon River Conference).
