The United State Marine Corps Junior National Wrestling Tournament is in Fargo, ND this week and Johnathan Thompson of Grand Junction and his Sebolt Academy (Jefferson) teammates are in the midst of the 16U Freestyle portion of the event.

Thompson is on the top line of the 88 lbs. bracket and he opened on Tuesday afternoon with a pair of victories. Not even close to being 16, Thompson won by a 10-0 technical fall in the Round of 32 in less than a minute vs. Ashton Cornialli of Rhode Island. Thompson followed that up with another tech fall, this time by a score of 11-0 in under one minute against Californian Aiden Rosewarne.

The tournament resumes today with the quarterfinals, semifinals, and placing matches.
