A multi-week program that Greene County ISU Extension hosted last year is returning this year, but with a few changes.
Greene County Extension Director Jeff Lamoureux says they have partnered with Boone and Story County Extension Offices to provide the Iowa Master Conservationist Program that is a seven-week course that exposes participants to the state’s natural ecosystems, a range of conservation challenges and the available opportunities within the region. He points out that this program includes seven face-to-face meetings in key areas of the three counties, including Spring Lake Park in Greene County and Ledges State Park in Boone County, among other locations with all classes taking place at the Boone County Extension Office.
Lamoureux points out that at the end of the program, participants will receive their Master Conservationist Certificate.
“We’re real excited about that to offer that again. And again, I’ve had a few people ask me about that, so I wanted to be able to provide something for them. (It would) Be nice if everything was local (in Greene County), but it’s also good sometimes to partner with our counties, our nearby counties and provide that program.”
The program will be held on Thursdays from July 31st to September 11th. The registration fee is $100 per person and the deadline to sign up is July 24th. Contact the Boone County Extension Office at 515-432-3882 or email them at xboone@iastate.edu to learn more or to sign up.
